What about a jacket, hat and gloves?  I always keep a heavy coat (carhartt type) and gloves and hat in each of my vehicles.

When you're done with the list you'll need a small suitcase.. Need to make a basic list.. Hopefully if your out and about and an emergency arrises you should have a coat on you.. You pretty much wear clothing based on the current environment. Not going to need a coat in the summer.. ;)

This is a rather difficult thing to come up with as everyone's needs are different.

Your correct Joey, that's what I stated in the beginning, essentials only because it will wind up being 100 lbs.

So really you just need
1. A GMRS/ham radio (d-star optional)
2. A working repeater (optional)
3. A fire starter (if needed)
4. A Poncho.
5. Small snacks. (Protein based for energy)
6. A flare gun or flares.
7. Emergency drugs (epi-pen, aspirin, Tylenol, etc..)
8. A small 2 person tent (if car is not available any longer)
9. Bottled water. (Not gallons)
10. Gardening shovel
11. Tbt

Repeater??? Really?

How would you fit the repeater tower in the bag ;)

I have a friend who keeps a Sat Phone in his messenger bag.  Can't see paying that much for something hardly used.

Not sure what a repeater would do for you but hea, if you have the room. I looked into a sat phone myself but like . said way too much money. My radio will be fine.

Agree.  I actually keep 2 HT's in the bag and I have a spare battery charging in the armrest compartment in the car.  A few times used them for non emergency use.

Problem is the bag is sitting in my office for over a month not doing me any good there lol.

OK, we got carried away a little. MY concept was and is what do you keep in your car ALL winter in case you get stuck on the LIE or any other road for two days. That's a realistic scenario to prepare for. The reality is you would most likely get rescued within 24 hours so 48 is a good cushion. This is not a go bag, prepper bag or long term survival bag. It's what do you need so you live for two days in your car in the cold, that's it!!!

Bare Essentials!!!!  My real intention for this Topic was to hopefully make some of us throw some stuff in our cars, forget about it and then if needed and you get stuck, you say to yourself, hey, "I got that bag in the car, this won't be so bad"  You don't need a Brick Pizza Oven or a Keurig Coffee maker, just some cheap simple stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

LMAO!!  Greg, you saved the best comment for last! lol I'm reading ALL of the comments and ideas, and now I'm trying to think of something to add the no one else said :o(  Everyone had some great ideas, but you right about this being a basic bag. I have a car bag that I made myself over the years. Nothing special just car stuff. Fix a flat, wd-40, tool kit, jumper cables, tire plugs, leather man, flash light, and a bunch of other things that I don't remember right now lol

I think this idea is excellent and we should ALL consider this as the winter creeps up. 1 back back is all you need. Everything should fit and you can leave this in truck a long with your coats, hats, gloves, etc.

"By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail"   correct?  I'd rather be safe then sorry. I work about 30 or so from work and if we get a snow storm that time can triple. Again, great topic lets keep it going with some more great ideas!
