LI Auto Survival Kit
« on: November 21, 2014, 10:14:10 am »
The Buffalo storm has inspired me. We have talked about LI survival in the past. Some of you may remember I don't believe in preparing for scenarios that you can't prepare for but what we can prepare for is a possible stranded situation in your car during a major snow storm. That's a real LI possibility and has happened before. So in the wake of the upstate disaster, lets but together an affordable COMMON SENSE essentials kit for a two day stranded situation in your car on the LIE. This would stay in your car all winter. Keep in mind ESSENTIALS!!! You don't want this winding up a 100 lb kit. I'll start it off;
GMRS Radio (obvious) ;D
Water (2 gals)
Dry Health Bars
Blanket (s)
etc...etc....

No, this is a winter emergency kit for the car. Keep it in a box for all that matters. This is not about a go bag or bail out bag

Another great addition to ideas!!! Thanks Allen.
How about someone else other than the usual suspects (I.e. Allen, Joey, Kevin, TJ, tommy499, James)?

Unfortunately its another sign of a morale issue when its always the same people responding/contributing.  When traffic on a forum goes down it can be for several reasons such as lack of interest in the topics or responses by some irritating others. Not saying that is the case here but something to be considered by the Admins.

In the case of this group the forum and repeater rely on the membership fees to sustain operations.  If people dont re-up their membership the forum and repeater can not ge sustained or expanded.  To me its critical that the Admins address the concerns but these are just opinions and not a fact.

Mr Dot, I'm just trying to drum up activity, not looking to make any political statements.

Get some MREs, they come with their own heater (which after you heat the food with it can be used to warm your body a bit) and have a ton of calories which will help keep you warm.

MRE's are a great idea.. i thinkit may also be good to have some of those pocket hand warmers. foil emergency survival blanket is another must have in a cold emergency. they fold up tiny and the foil really helps reflect the heat back into your body. i like this thread!
