Anybody into cb radios still? Have a set-up in your rig?

Welcome to the forum...

I do not have a CB, however TJ does... CB had limited range a few miles, and GMRS allows for a repeater .. Seems like a win-win to me.

Plus most of us have our HAM ticket as well.

Thanks for the post..

Technically only in the 27MHZ range. The radio I have is a 10 meter radio, channels go down into the low 25mhz's and up into 28mhz's which is ham radio territory. I don't transmit on the ham channels though because I don't have a license.

My setup has received a little love and will go out more than a couple miles now, plus there's still something about talking on a cb, maybe it's just nostalgic. I have GMRS handheld radio and i can hear the repeater, but I don't have a license and I am just a member here, not a paying subscriber. Starting out in the amatuer radio hobby going cb was just cheaper and easier.

Well, you're at the right place.. We can get you setup pretty low cost with either a GMRS base or mobile setup..

Depending on your location will be on how well a portable will work..

I've heard this "pill" reference before a few times, what exactly does it mean?

the term "pill" is just a fancy word for how many transistors are in a amplifier example: a 5 pill would be a amplifier with 5 transistors in it

and T.J you can Kiss my *$$  in macys window

you know I love you T.J

The term "pill", is also that the transistor looks like an actual  "pill" because its usually white..

Cqcqcq dx big apple tree just got down.... Ok I'm done. Lol I was more of a 27.555 guy or even 37lsb. Just took the Wilson 1000 off the car. Way to many antennas between d star dual band, gmrs, and the occasional 4 antenna array. Don't mind talking on it every once in a while. May put it in the house. That I don't care how many antennas on lol
