Hand Tools donated to DRV
« on: March 10, 2014, 08:55:27 am »
The Haligan Tool and Flat Head Axe are very common tools carried by almost all Fire/ Police/ and EMS agencies. There are hundreds of uses for the tools. My thinking in donating them to the DRV is to carry them in the event of a disaster. They can be used to release someone from a building collapse or a car wreck. The axe could also be used to drive stakes for a field communication or first aid tent. I encourage all persons that do not have a back round in emergency services to take Red Cross & CERT courses if they become available.

The spanner wrench is a small aluminum tool that can be used to shut off gas meters on the sides of houses. Again, if you do not have training do not mess with the gas. You could accidentally turn the gas on and create a bigger problem. Someone who is trained to use this tool can be invaluable in preventing bigger problems from natural gas.
