SHTFLI LAPTOP
« on: February 25, 2014, 11:38:56 pm »
I was able to acquire the Dell E5500.. Large upgrade from the IBM T42.

I setup it up solely for SHTFLI! I still need to install Office Home & Business 2010, once thats done.. iTS DONE.

This has 4gig of RAM, however only running Windows 7 32bit, because of the possible programming this may be doing... It does have a serial port and VGA out for a TV..

Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.53ghz)

Unfortunately so dave. Because of all the components being on the deck attachment. Cant make them bootable. If you like I can return it.

I'm abut confused, I thought the think pad was from Joey? Why would it get returned to Dave? Did I miss something?

The dell is a better option only because of the 232 port.  It's just a but more flexible as far as communications to other equipment. Obsolete? I don't think so I  gave my brother my old company t42 years ago and it still works solid today.

We are talking about 2 different think pads. Dave had given me one a few weeks back in hopes to be able to use it for mobile programing. But it is a little to outdated for what I need it for.
