I live on Long Island in Nassau County and have recently graduated from the plain old Motorola simplex radios to a Wouxon KG-935G. In doing so I started looking around on the internet and came across this group. I thought it would be a great way to meet some new people as well as have the ability to stay in touch with family over the island.
