Hello from Huntington Station
« on: October 15, 2020, 05:41:12 pm »
Hello,

I have been thinking about backup communications and my research has landed me here.  I happen to be situated at the Nassau / Suffolk county border and would like an alternate means of communication should cellphone / IP communications fail on Long Island.  I know nothing about FRS / GMRS communcations other than point to point which my family has used extensively when we travel, skiing, road trips, cruise trips, etc.  I would like to figure out how to use available repeaters in LI to extend our range of emergency communication coverage which I hope to do here.

Will apply for my GMRS license in the next few days.
