The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) collects, compiles, and analyzes
information on influenza activity year round in New York State (NYS) and produces this weekly
report during the influenza season (October through the following May).

Weekly Influenza Surveillance Report
During the week Ending *(December 29th, 2018)* to *(January 5th,2019)*--*(Week 1)*


During the Week Ending *( January 5, 2019 )*

•  Influenza activity level was categorized as geographically widespread.

•  This is the fourth *(4th)* consecutive week that widespread activity has been reported.

•  There were *(3,681)* laboratory-confirmed influenza reports, a *(17% increase)* over last week.

•  Of the 2,243 specimens submitted by WHO/NREVSS clinical laboratories, 234 (10.43%) were positive.

• *(231 were influenza A)* and *(3 were influenza B)*

•  Of the *(25)* specimens tested at Wadsworth Center, *(20)* were Positive for influenza.

• *(18 were influenza A (H1)* and *(2 were influenza A (H3)*.

•  Reports of percent of patient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI3) from ILINet providers was 2.85%, which is below the
regional baseline of 3.10%.

• The number of patients hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza was *(761)* a *(6% decrease)* over last week.

• There were NO (0) influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this week.

• There has been one (1) influenza-associated pediatric death reported this season

• 61 counties reported cases this week.

• Incidence ranged from 0-60.26 cases/100,000 population.

report during the influenza season (October through the following May).

Weekly Influenza Surveillance Report

• Influenza activity level was categorized as geographically widespread.

• This is the fifth *(5th)* consecutive week that widespread activity has been reported.

• There were 3,795 laboratory-confirmed influenza reports, a 3% increase over last week.

• Of the 3,139 specimens submitted by WHO/NREVSS clinical laboratories,
445 (14.18%) were positive.
443 were influenza A and
2 were influenza B.

• Of the 40 specimens tested at Wadsworth Center,
35 were positive for influenza.
29 were influenza A (H1) and
6 were influenza A (H3).

• Reports of percent of patient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI3) from ILINet providers was 2.57%,
which is below the regional baseline of 3.10%.

• The number of patients hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza was 678 a 20% decrease over last week.

• There were no influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this week.

• There has been one influenza-associated pediatric death reported this season.

• 60 counties reported cases this week.

• Incidence ranged from 0-45.20 cases/100,000 population

• Influenza activity level was categorized as geographically widespread

• This is the sixth consecutive week that widespread activity has been reported.

• There were 5,227 laboratory-confirmed influenza reports, a *(38% increase)* over last week.

• Of the 2,698 specimens submitted by WHO/NREVSS clinical laboratories,
355 (13.16%) were positive.
347 were influenza A and
8 were influenza B.

• Of the 58 specimens tested at Wadsworth Center,
35 were positive for influenza.
26 were influenza A (H1),
5 were influenza A (H3) and
4 were influenza A (Not Subtyped).

• Reports of percent of patient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI3 ) from ILINet providers was 3.15%, which is above the regional baseline of 3.10%.

• The number of patients hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza was *(786)* a *(12% increase)* over last week.

• There were no influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this week.

• There has been one influenza-associated pediatric death reported this season.

All clinical laboratories that

• Influenza activity level was categorized as geographically widespread
• This is the 10th consecutive week that widespread activity has been reported.
• There were 9,376 laboratory-confirmed influenza reports, a 9% increase over last week.

• Of the 3,214 specimens submitted by WHO/NREVSS clinical laboratories,
835 (25.98%) were positive for influenza.
831 were influenza A and
4 were influenza B.

• Of the 104 specimens tested at Wadsworth Center,
74 were positive for influenza.
48 were influenza A (H1),
21 were influenza A (H3), and
5 were influenza A (Not Subtyped).

• Reports of percent of patient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI3) from ILINet providers was 4.58%, which is above the
regional baseline of 3.10%.

• The number of patients hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza was 1,227 a 10% decrease over last week.
• There was one influenza-associated pediatric death reported this week.
•There have been three influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this season.

Weekly Influenza Surveillance Report  *(April 6th,2019)*to *(April 13th,2019)*--*{Week 15}*


The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) collects, compiles, and analyzes
information on influenza activity year round in New York State (NYS) and produces this weekly
report during the influenza season (October through the following May).

During the Week Ending April 13, 2019

• Influenza activity level was categorized as geographically widespread2
. This is the 18th consecutive week that widespread
activity has been reported.
• There were 3,350 laboratory-confirmed influenza reports, a 26% decrease over last week.
• Of the 2,718 specimens submitted by WHO/NREVSS clinical laboratories,
315 (11.59%) were positive for influenza.
293 were influenza A and
22 were influenza B.

• Of the 48 specimens tested at Wadsworth Center,
46 were positive for influenza.
10 were influenza A (H1),
29 were influenza A (H3),
1 was influenza A (Not Subtyped),
1 was influenza B (Yamagata), and
5 were influenza B (Victoria).

• Reports of percent of patient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI3) from ILINet providers was 2.13%, below the regional
baseline of 3.10%.

• The number of patients hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza was 577 a 29% decrease over last week.

• There were NO influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this week.

• There have been SIX influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this season.

All clinical laboratories that perform testing on residents of
NYS report all positive influenza test results to NYSDOH.

• 60 counties reported cases this week.
• Incidence ranged from 0-79.69 cases/100,000 population.
