Oh, never mind
I apologize in a very big way. I took your response in a negative way. I was being to sensitive. Again, sorry

you know there are dr's out there that can help you with that Greg.

oh darn it i was drifting off topic again.

seeing how we are on an island i think water is somethings we will always have access to. so a really good filtration system is all that would really be needed. and maybe the capacity to store enough filtered water for a day or so. then you would just have to filter some more.

Just my 2 cents worth. Back home in New Zealand and in Australia in the less populated areas we collected rainwater for use during the year this water was stored in a large tank adjacent the
house and a small pump provided water to a header tank in the roof. This system works well and would be ideal for Long Island. Down on St John where I used to do a lot of diving the houses all had swimming pool basements that stored the water for use during the year  this system works great for anyone living well above sea level the side tank works better for people in flood areas (like LI) underground tanks can be contaminated by saltwater or flood water.
I have installed charcoal filters in all of my gutters and I intend to put 55 gallon catch tanks on all three of the down spouts on my house any excess water will be used in the garden over the summer.
What do you think?

I think that's pretty cool 8)   I would like to see the system in action when it is all done.
