This is also a Good Time to Check the Battery Water Level / The Windshield Washer Fluid (Most Important as we all Know what Road Salt does to Window View)---Oil--Powersteering & Transmission Fluid Level and Yes Don,t Forget the Tire Pressures Especially the Ole Forgotton Spare Tire

And Make Sure the Gas Tank is FULL and the Wiper Blades are Good

I am guessing we should have done all this before it was 4 degrees outside.

Definitely spare batteries and flashlight or even another source of light such as candles
Definitely extra winter hat and gloves , wool blanket and or reflective blanket
Some of those ready to eat military type foods with the ration heater - after the food is cooked you can use it to warm up
Maybe one of those portable propane space heaters like this one https://www.lowes.com/pd/Mr-Heater-9-000-BTU-Portable-Radiant-Propane-Heater/3353726
Waterproof match case and whats good to do with that is pack some lint you get from a clothes dryer in there - itll keep the matches from moving around and lint is also a great firestarter

Also a spare rain jacket or waterproof/insulated type jacket
Whats also great is Under Armor - keep a set in the bag or car their somewhat a updated version of the old school "long johns" they are lite weight and very warm

Staying dry is always overlooked. Definitely a good idea. Nothin worse then exerting yourself while being soaked. Takes a toll on the body.
