I vote for the interlock, cheaper and it gives you more control over what you want to power up.

Yes, it is the cheaper and easy device to install. I have a 7500watt Gentran Box with 6 switches. It was a pain doing the breaker survey to figure out the best 6 breakers to power. Once done your only limited to those 6.
It is nice having the watt meter though, with the interlock you have no idea when your getting close to overloading your generator.

A watt meter would be nice, but I would still like the flexibility of using what I want when I want it. As long as I am prudent turning things off when I leave a room and on when I enter a room I don't think I would overload 6500 watt gen.

I'm for the power panel lock-out device vs the switch that Greg has...  Only because you have only a few things on that... I agree with Alan.. I want to use what I want when I want... Not a chance I'm using 6500 watts either...

EDIT: Here is your watt meter: http://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com/Reliance-Controls-MB75/p1087.html

Yes, If that had been available when I did mine, I would have most likely done the interlock
