Toyota announced it is recalling 21,700 Toyota and Lexus cars in two separate recalls for problems with the fuel line that have the potential to cause a fire.
Toyota is recalling roughly 11,800 of its 2018 Camry sedans because it’s possible that the fuel pipes and the fuel hoses in the engine compartment were not properly connected during assembly. This could lead to a fuel odor or leak, which—in the presence of an ignition source—could increase the risk of a fire.
In the second recall, which affects approximately 9,900 of its 2015-2018 Lexus RC F, 2016-2018 Lexus GS F, and 2018 Lexus LC 500 cars, there is a possibility that the cover of a high-pressure fuel pump could become damaged over time and lead to a fuel leak and an increased risk of fire.
The Details on Both Recalls
Toyota vehicles recalled: Certain 2018 Toyota Camry sedans.
The problem: There is the possibility that the fuel pipes and the fuel hoses in the engine compartment were not properly connected during the assembly process, according to Toyota. This may lead to a fuel leak and increase the risk of fire.
The fix: Toyota dealers will inspect the fuel pipes and the fuel hoses, and if necessary, properly connect them at no cost to customers.

NHTSA campaign number: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does not yet have a campaign number for this recall.
Lexus vehicles recalled: Certain 2015-2018 Lexus RC F, 2016-2018 Lexus GS F, and 2018 Lexus LC 500 cars.
The problem: Affected vehicles are equipped with two high-pressure fuel pumps. There is a possibility that the cover of one of these pumps could become damaged over time and lead to a fuel leak, according to Lexus. This may increase the risk of fire.
The fix: Lexus dealers will replace both high-pressure fuel pumps with improved ones at no cost to customers.
