Paumanok Pursuit 70k Run & Relay It is that time of the year again. We are starting to look for radio volunteers (GMRS & Amateur) for the Paumanok Pursuit 70k Run and Relay. Race day is April 2nd with the race starting at 7am. This was a great event last year for the GMRS/Amateur radio community and we would love all the help we can get.
The Paumanok Pursuit is a 70K trail run along the Paumanok Path. This is a fundraising event to benefit the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference’s fund to help maintain the Suffolk County Park Trail System.
The race is divided into 5 legs so if you can't come early but can come late in the race we still may have a spot for you.
Starting at the western trailhead on Route 25A in Rocky Point, NY and ending at Sears Bellows County Park in Hampton Bays, NY. The race is open to individual entrants as well as relay teams of 2 to 5 runners. The 5 legs to the race consisting of the following distances in order, 10.75 miles, 8.5 miles, 10.0 miles, 7.5 miles and 6.75 miles, with checkpoints at each.

This is not a ARES event but a multi-club, radio volunteer event that will be run under the Incident Command System.
Last year's event went very well and was much appreacted by the race participants and staff. We are hoping to make it even better this year.
