It has come to MY attention that some members think that the DRV will be a Emergency response vehicle.. THAT IS FALSE, we are simply trying to build a functional Disaster response vehicle to aid effected areas and residents , not necessarily on the front line of a disaster but not far away either. The goal is to assist the community not be a group of vigilantes. we can accomplish this goal by having the items and ideas contained in this post to help residents, to give them power to charge a phone, to give them gloves to clean up debris, give them access (email via mesh hopefully) to reach out to loved ones and let them know they are ok, to print out some documents, grab a blanket, and maybe help them clear their yard or throw out the damaged items with shovels or saws.. To lend a hand.. Im starting to get the vibe that a few may think that we will be blasting to a disaster yellow lights flashing, and someones head out the window making siren sounds. thats not the case. This entire club/organization/group (however one will refer) was created solely on the lack of reliable communications during and after Sandy and i think we now have a system (repeater) in place that solved that issue. The DRV is a vehicle that we can use to help those that need it and also promote the group. We urge ALL members to get involved with CERT, or ARES, Or even to volunteer with local FD or AUX PD. Knowledge is power, knowing what to do during a disaster or emergency is VERY important. The admins/owners hope that as a group we can get involved or affiliated with CERT or like group, and that one day the DRV may be of service to them for communications, or anything else it will capable of. again i welcome and ask any memebrs who have questions or comments to direct them to me so we can discuss them. We do plan on having organized meets, field day type things, activities etc...If you want to directly be involved with the building of the DRV reach out to me, we simply dont have the means to make it a "group" project. But if all continues to progress "group" projects and activities will be in the future (once mother nature decides to ease up on us). Anyway, ill just add that this entire thing is new to us, some of us have a lot of experience regarding certain things and some of us dont. please be patient and reach out to us if you have ideas, concerns, or questions related to anything on the forum/drv/repeater. We are a very laid back bunch of guys and are just trying to make this the best it can be for everyone..
